Apple Watch must get inexpensive new version without ECG function

Apple is said to have a new, cheaper version of the Apple Watch in the works. As a result, not only the Apple Watch Series 6 will be presented at the event in the coming week, but also a new “Apple Watch SE”.

This is much the same principle with which Apple has already done very well with the iPhone: the Apple Watch SE is to be offered as a cheap entry-level model. The company is set to launch a new Apple Watch, according to various sources, much cheaper than the expected new Watch Series 6 model. Cheaper should then mean that it will be in the price zone in which Apple currently offers the Apple Watch Series 3, between 200 and 300 euros.

From known Leaker Apple Jon Prosser there are now details about this “Apple Watch SE”. On Twitter, Prosser writes that there should be two different sizes, as is currently the case, with 40 and 42 millimeters.

On the outside, Apple would have adopted the design of the Apple Watch Series 4. The technology is expected to be a mix of the current Series 5 and older models. There is no permanent display, otherwise it would be too expensive. The ECG function should not be included either. Additionally, Prosser writes that an M9 chip should drive the watch. Prosser has released the alleged code names and internal names of Watch SE.
