In addition to working with up to four independent browser windows, Q-Dir 8.91 has additional handy functions such as bookmarks, a magnifying glass or various filters. The tool can also manage data media in network and FTP servers.
The Q-Dir file manager
Downloading and installing Q-Dir
Q-Dir supports Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Server 2012-2019, each in 32-bit and 64-bit version. On the project page, the developer explains how Q-Dir can be added as a trusted app on Windows 10.
Q Dir – easy to use file manager
The user interface in German is optically based largely on standard Windows tools, which makes familiarization almost superfluous. In Q-Dir, favorite folder combinations can be saved as favorites, quickly accessible. Up to 64 combinations can be saved in a favorite, which is distributed over the four windows in the form of tabs.
The biggest difference with Windows Explorer is that Q-Dir displays four browser windows at the same time. This makes it easier to access frequently used directories and move files and folders. The view can be configured individually for each window. For example, you can show the MP3 tags in one window in the detailed view and see the photos as thumbnails in another window.
As in Windows Explorer, you can work with files and folders by dragging and dropping or via the clipboard with the standard “Copy”, “Cut” and “Paste” commands. Q-Dir supports both local data media and network drives and can also handle external devices like USB sticks and others.
Using Q-Dir Portable
Functions like directory structure, display settings, print function, screen magnifier, markup filter, color filter, column details, image preview , association rules or FTP support are also integrated. A separately available portable version is also available on the manufacturer’s website, but it is also included in the setup available for download here.
