The new GoPro Hero9 Black retains the well-known form factor that defined the entire product category. Along with the improved front display, it’s apparently also new that the new GoPro camera will get 5K support in the future. In any case, this is mentioned in some of the documents we have, but the concrete technical details are not yet available.
Color screen for vlogging style videos?
GoPro has long installed an additional, smaller screen on the front of its cameras. Until now, however, this has always been a simple LCD screen that was used to display frame rates, resolution, and other details of the selected recording mode. In the future, the front screen will be much more flexible.
So GoPro obviously installed a small, colorful screen that is still square, but can display colors. Theoretically, this translates into the ability to display the live camera image as well in order to work better with recordings in the vlog style, for example, in which the camera is pointed at the wearer himself.
The new color screen on the front is a big step forward from the screens previously used to display operating modes and almost entirely occupies the area next to the camera optics. Other than that, there are only a few external changes, so the primary display on the back apparently remains unchanged.
Since we have not yet received any information on the technical characteristics of the new GoPro Hero9 Black, these statements should be treated with caution. What is certain, however, is that the new GoPro comes with the folding mounting arms on the lower edge, with which it can be attached directly to the amount without additional housing. We also don’t know anything about pricing and availability.
