Over the past few months, Ikea has already made several advancements in smart homes and entertainment electronics, most notably the Symfonisk speaker series developed and offered with Sonos. Smart plugs from the Trådfri smart home product line have also been available in Germany since the end of August.
The Swedes weren’t known for the game until now, but that will change in the future. Because a cooperation with the Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) branch is now announced. Together, the two companies want to develop and offer a range of affordable furniture and other accessories focused on play.

There should be a total of 30 different products: these should initially be available in China from February 2021, players from other countries will have their chance in October 2021 or from there. In a press release, Ikea writes that 2.5 billion people can be described as gamers, or roughly a quarter of the world’s population. “But their furniture needs have so far been overlooked,” says the Swedish furniture store (via Engadget).
You don’t want to say what it is exactly yet, or sometimes you just don’t know it yet. Because right now you are trying out workshops that you are having with ROG experts and, most importantly, gamers to find out what is really needed and what would be useful.
However, we can assume that desks and chairs will play a central role. However, you shouldn’t expect Ikea to make typical gaming chairs, for example. Because Swedes see the subject of games “through the demographics”, so they don’t want to produce niche products for grassroots gamers, but rather act as broadly as possible.
